Connecting to Other Games
Smoothping fully supports World of Warcraft, Aion, Rift, Star Wars, Tera, Dragon Nest, Tibia, Darkfall, Eve online, Apb Reloaded, and Vindictus, using our Smoothping Elite client. We also offer limited support for other games that you can connect to using third-party programs.
What "limited support" means is that you should be able to connect to them through our service by using ProxyCap and PuTTY, but we cannot guarantee that this method will continue to work or even be available for that game.
Many game formats continue to change as the game develops. A game that you can play today using Smoothping may not be available tomorrow for any SSH tunneling services at all if they opt to include UDP components, and some that you have been enjoying for awhile may suddenly change port numbers which you will then have to research on your own.
That being said, here is the method which you can use to connect to other online games.
First, you will need to download PuTTY as your telnet device. PuTTY is a freeware program available here:
Download our PuTTY bundle:
http://www.smoothping.com/downloads/smoothping.zip
PuTTY is a stand-alone program that doesn't require any installation.
Next, you will need ProxyCap. Please note that ProxyCap is a 30-day trial. Your subscription to Smoothping DOES NOT include ProxyCap. You will have to purchase it separately.
We have worked with Proxy Labs and you can get 20% off ProxyCap using this link: http://www.proxycap.com/smoothping
Download ProxyCap

Now download the ruleset for the game you wish to play from the listing below:
Download Ruleset(s)
Age of Conan

Battlefield Bad Company 2
http://www.smoothping.com/files/bbc2.prsx
Lineage
http://www.smoothping.com/files/lineage.prs
Warhammer Online
http://www.smoothping.com/files/sp.warhammer.prs
These rulesets will be used by ProxyCap to determine port settings and routing information. It's recommended that you create a folder somewhere and label it "rulesets" so that you can easily access it later.
Lastly, download the current Smoothping server list here:
Download Smoothping Server List
http://smoothping.com/downloads/servers.zip
Extract the server list file and place the "sessions" folder into your PuTTY directory. If there is already a "sessions" folder present, overwrite any of the entries that are there with the updated entries.
Install ProxyCap. You will need to restart your computer to complete the installation. Once you have installed ProxyCap and restarted your computer, open the program. Click the "Ruleset" item in the tree, and click "Load".
Load the ruleset you downloaded. Once you have done that, your "Rules" in proxycap should look like the screenshot below.

Open PuTTY and you will see a list of all of the Smoothping
servers. Select the Server that you wish to connect to and Click
Load.
Note:
If the Smoothping Servers list does not show for you, you may need
to click the "Sessions from File" checkbox and you should then see
all the Smoothping Servers.
Pick your server from the list of servers (as Smoothping grows the list increases, so you will have more servers in your list than this screenshot) and then click okay
Enter your Smoothping login and password. The very first time
you connect to each Smoothping Server, PuTTY will present a
security warning (picture below) asking if you are sure you wish
to connect to this server. Just select YES. Now you will be
connected to the server that you selected and you should see our
welcome message. You can minimize PuTTY now, and it will go to the
System Tray.
Security warning that opens the first time connected. Don't be alarmed, all Smoothping server are 100% secure.
Login to PuTTY. As you can see no password appears visually for security (although it is actually being entered - this often confuses first-time users of PuTTY). Hit ENTER on your keyboard, and PuTTY will login.
Please note that your user name should be all lower-case - that is, "user", not "User" - and your password is case-sensitive, so be sure to enter it exactly.
Success!
Now just open up your game and you should be connected using Smoothping!
Try giving a few of our servers from around the US to see what one give you the best ping.
Enjoy!
