So you are a Mac WoW gamer? Glad to see I am not alone. This quick tutorial will show you how to use the SmoothPing service on the Mac.
There are only a few requirements to use SmoothPing on the Mac.
- You can use a PowerPC Mac(G3, G4, G5) or any Intel Mac(MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro).
- You do need to be running Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger", Mac OS 10.5 "Leopard", or Mac OS 10.6 "Snow Leopard".
There are 2 different ways that we know how to use SmoothPing on the Mac. There is Wow2Go, and Proxifier. We recomend you use Wow2Go but if it does not work, try proxifier
Wow2Go
Ok, let's get started. You are going to need to go to http://www.leapingbytes.com/wow2go/.
We are going to need to download the application. Just click the Wow2Go icon, and it should download.
WoW2Go is Shareware, so you need to signup for a trial
Once you have downloaded the application, you are going to need to ender your name and email address to get a trial licence.
You will get an email with an attachment trial licence.
Once you get the email, download and open the attachment. Wow2Go should open.

Click the small pencil between the plus and minus signs to add a new SmoothPing server.

This is an example of how you would set up the Boston01 server. You can see all of our current servers by looking over to the side
where we have an online users count.
You will want to ender your SmoothPing username and password in the username and password fields.
Now, you are going to want to click the Wow2Go icon in the left hand corner. A window will slide out asking where your World Of Warcraft.app is.

That's it! Now just click "Start" and then "Play", and WoW should open using the SmoothPing service. Enjoy!
Proxifier
Ok, let's get started. First, you are going to want to download Proxifier from http://www.proxifier.com/mac_download.htm
Proxifier is Shareware, you get a 31 day trial licence

You will want to install proxifyer and then download SmoothPing configuration settings HERE. Just open the configuration settings and Proxifier will open.
Next, you are going to want to open up Terminal, which is located in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app. You can quickly launch it using spotlight by typing in "Terminal".
Now you are going type in "ssh -D1080 smooth@netherlands01.smoothping.com". Of course, you are going to put your username
where "smooth" is and the server you want to connect to where "netherlands01".

Then you will want to type in your password, and then you will be connected

Now, all you need to do is open Proxifier, then open WoW, and you can enjoy the lower ping SmoothPing can offer.
